Like steel, aluminium has considerable ductility giving it the ability to withstand permanent deformation without rupture. It has one third the modulus of elasticity of steel and then can absorb the energy of an impact over a greater distance than steel

The Sabrecraft MB12000 Modular Barge System is constructed using High-Grade Marine Aluminium Plate 5083 - H116. All plate used is sourced from factories with Class Approval to BV, DNV, GL or ABS

Steel on the other hand would be at the end of its commercial life with constant high maintenance costs. Resale price would be as low as 20% of the purchase price. The estimated maintenance cost for the steel barge over those 10 years would have exceeded the purchase price!

o Superior Stability - As these Modules bolt securely together, they create an extremely stable work platform compared to typical Pin together Systems on the market

o Maintenance - Aluminium is very low compared to Steel, no rusting, chipping, blasting and no painting required. Barges are an expensive asset that typically require constant expensive maintenance if constructed from Steel. Barges made from Marine Grade Aluminium require none of the above
o Shallow Draft - Aluminium is 3 times lighter than Steel. This weight reduction reduces the vessels draft allowing you to work in far more locations, closer to shore
o Stackable - The design is such that Bollards, Anodes and Spud Chutes are all flush mounted allowing the Modules to be stacked
o Modular System - The Sabrecraft MB12000 System is a Copyright Protected System
o Spud Chutes - These are built in as a standard feature for the Port/Starboard modules
o Electrolysis Corrosion - Sabrecraft have incorporated a water flow through design so that water can pass between the barges once assembled. This drastically reduces corrosion issues from modules touching
